BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team won their 7th consecutive game, downing Ocean County College 124-84 on Thursday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center.
The Spartans, who topped the 100 point plateau for the 5th consecutive game, shot 53% from the field, 44% from behind the arc and 91% from the line.Â
Elijah Barrett (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) led five scorers in double-figures with 30 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, while
Tyrese Stewart (Allentown, PA/William Allen) added 14 points and 9 boards.Â
The Spartans held a huge 56-25 advantage on the backboards, including 21 offensive rebounds.Â
Tony James (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) finished with 24 points,
Michael Jackson (West Lawn, PA /Wilson West Lawn ) 19 and
Jay Davis (Northwest, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) 18.
"The offense is really clicking right now," remarked Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "we are scoring inside and out and with a number of different players getting involved, I think all 10 players scored at least 2 points tonight and we had 24 assists."
The win moves Northampton to 11-5 overall and 10-3 in Region XIX.
Ocean falls to 5-11 overall and 5-11 in the Region.Â
The Spartans return to action on Saturday when they host Thaddeus Stevens at noon. The game was originally scheduled for 2pm, but was bumped up to 12:00pm to avoid the potential winter storm predicted to hit the east coast on Saturday.Â
