BETHLEHEM, Pa - The Spartans three game winning streak came to an end as they fell to the 10th ranked Colonials of Philadelphia, 58-45, on Tuesday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
Kelsey Miller (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) led Northampton with 11 points,
Nicole Robinson (Bangor, PA/Bangor ) and
Ashley Robinson (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) each had 9 points.
Briana Petersen (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg North) grabbed 12 rebounds, but the Colonials out-rebounded the Spartans 52-33.
"Defensive rebounding really hurt us tonight," commented head coach
Alyssa Bonenberger, "we can't give up 18 offensive rebounds and expect to win."
The loss drops Northampton to 5-10 overall, 4-6 in Region XIX and 3-5 in the EPAC.
Philadelphia improves to 13-4 overall, 10-1 in the Region and 6-0 in conference play.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday when they travel to Lehigh Carbon to face the Cougars at 1:00pm.
