NANTICOKE, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team, which received votes in the latest NJCAA national poll, remained undefeated on the season with a 114-64 victory over Luzerne County Community College on Tuesday evening at the Thunder Dome.
Tony James (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg ) had 16 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists to lead a balanced attack that saw 18 of the 20 Spartans in uniform score at least one point.
"Good team victory tonight," remarked Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "I thought we really showed up on both ends of the court and stayed focused for 40 minutes."
Nazir Gossette (Philadelphia, PA/Math, Civics & Sciences Charter) added 10 points and 8 rebounds,
Stephon Sheard (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) had 12 points and
Reuben Soto (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) chipped in 14 for the Spartans.Â
The Spartans finished 51 of 95 from the floor in the victory.Â
Northampton improves to 4-0 overall, 2-0 in Region XIX and 2-0 in the EPAC.Â
Luzerne falls to 1-3 overall, 1-2 in Region and 1-2 in Conference.Â
The Spartans are back in action on Thursday evening when they host Delaware County Community College at 7pm.Â
