Box Score PATERSON, NJ - Passaic County Community College, the defending Region XIX champions, jumped out to an 18-0 lead and never looked back in downing Northampton, 85-37, on Saturday afternoon at the Martin Center.
Briona McClain (Stroudsburg, PA /Pocono Mt. West ) led the Spartans with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while
Briana Petersen (East Stroudsburg, PA /East Stroudsburg North ) added 8 points and
Ashley Robinson (East Stroudsburg, PA /East Stroudsburg South) chipped in with 5.
"They jumped on us right from the start and we did not respond well to their pressure," stated Head Coach
Alyssa Bonenberger, "we need to do a better job taking care of the ball not allowing the pressure to speed us up."
Montana Cassaro (Bangor, PA /Bangor) added 10 rebounds and
Kelsey Miller (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) had 3 steals for Northampton.
The loss drops Northampton to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in Region XIX.
Passaic improves to 4-0 overall and 4-0 in Region XIX.
The Spartans are back in action on Tuesday evening when they host Harrisburg Area Community College at 5pm.
