Box Score BINGHAMTON, NY - For the second consecutive game the Northampton women's basketball team led after three quarters, but struggled down the stretch in the 4th quarter, this time falling to Broome Community College, 64-55, on Thursday evening at the the Hornets Nest.
The Spartans led 41-40 entering the final quarter, but were outscored 24 to 14, committing 10 turnovers and shooting just 2 of 10 from the charity stripe in the final period. Â
"Unfortunately, it is the same story for us," remarked Head Coach
Alyssa Bonenberger, "turnovers and poor free-throw shooting plagued us again tonight. We played pretty well for three quarters and then just fell apart in the final 6 minutes of the game."
Briona McClain (Stroudsburg, PA /Pocono Mt. West ) led the Spartans with 27 points, 19 rebounds and 5 blocks, while
Briana Petersen (East Stroudsburg, PA /East Stroudsburg North ) contributed a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.Â
Montana Cassaro (Bangor, PA /Bangor)Â added 9 points and 9 rebounds for Northampton.Â
The loss drops Northampton to 4-6 overall, while Broome improves to 3-8.Â
The Spartans hit the road again on Saturday, traveling to Toms River, NJ to face Ocean County College in their last game before holiday break.Â
