BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team captured the inaugural EPAC Tournament Championship, downing Thaddeus Stevens College, 101-77, in the title game on Sunday at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
Arnel Lewis (Easton, PA/Easton) earned Tournament MVP Honors, finishing with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, while
Michael Jackson (West Lawn, PA /Wilson West Lawn ) earned Coca-Cola Player of the Game after scoring 17 points.
"This was a goal of ours entering the season," remarked Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "now we need to focus on Middlesex Tuesday and the Region playoffs. I was really proud of how the guys played today, they were able to come back out less than 24 hours after beating Harrisburg yesterday and play at a very high level today against a very good Stevens squad."
Jay Davis (Northwest, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) had 26 points,
Tony James (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) scored 10 and grabbed 12 rebounds and
Elijah Barrett (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) recorded a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
The Spartans, who picked up their 20th win of the season, improve to 20-7 overall.
Stevens falls to 17-9.
Northampton will finish their regular season on Tuesday when they travel to Middlesex County College for a 7pm tip.
