Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Spartans Claim EPAC Championship with 101-77 Victory

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team captured the inaugural EPAC Tournament Championship, downing Thaddeus Stevens College, 101-77, in the title game on Sunday at the Arthur L. Scott Center.

Arnel Lewis (Easton, PA/Easton) earned Tournament MVP Honors, finishing with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, while Michael Jackson (West Lawn, PA /Wilson West Lawn ) earned Coca-Cola Player of the Game after scoring 17 points.

"This was a goal of ours entering the season," remarked Head Coach Brennan McCarthy, "now we need to focus on Middlesex Tuesday and the Region playoffs.  I was really proud of how the guys played today, they were able to come back out less than 24 hours after beating Harrisburg yesterday and play at a very high level today against a very good Stevens squad."

Jay Davis (Northwest, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) had 26 points, Tony James (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) scored 10 and grabbed 12 rebounds and Elijah Barrett (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) recorded a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

The Spartans, who picked up their 20th win of the season, improve to 20-7 overall.

Stevens falls to 17-9.

Northampton will finish their regular season on Tuesday when they travel to Middlesex County College for a 7pm tip.
