Box Score EDISON. NJ - The Northampton men's basketball team dropped their regular season finale on Tuesday evening, falling to Middlesex County College, 84-81, at the MCC Athletic Center.
Arnel Lewis (Easton, PA/Easton) scored 22 points,
Elijah Barrett (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) had 18 and
Tony James (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) added 12 for the Spartans, who shot 32 of 71 from the field, including 8 of 30 from behind the arc and 9 for 20 from the charity stripe.
"I thought we competed well tonight," remarked Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "Middlesex is very talented and playing without Jay (Davis) we had some guys step up and play bigger roles tonight and that will help us in the postseason."
Barrett added 12 rebounds and James had 6 assists for Northampton.
The Spartans finish the regular season with a record of 20-8 overall and 15-6 in Region XIX.
Middlesex, which received votes in the latest NJCAA national poll, improves to 24-4 overall and 22-4 in Region XIX.
Northampton will now wait for the release of the seeding for the Region XIX Tournament, which is set to take place on Wednesday evening, to find out their next opponent.
