BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team advanced to the Region XIX quarterfinals with a 79-60 victory over Harrisburg Area Community College on Saturday afternoon at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
Michael Jackson (West Lawn, PA /Wilson West Lawn ) led four Spartans in double figures with 15 points as Northampton defeated Harrisburg for the third time this season.
D'Andre Davis (York, PA/York Catholic) and
Arnel Lewis (Easton, PA/Easton) each added 12 points and
Elijah Barrett (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) finished with 10, as nine of the 10 Spartans in uniform scored.
"Never easy when you have to play a team four times in a season," commented Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "especially when one of those games was just 7 days ago. I thought we came out and took care of business ... now it is time to focus on Union."
Tony James (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg), the Coca-Cola Player of the Game, grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds and Lewis added 4 assists for the Spartans.
The win moves the 5th seeded Spartans to 21-8 overall, while 12th seeded Harrisburg ends the year at 13-13.
Northampton will now travel to 4th seeded Union County College on Tuesday evening for a 7pm matchup at the Owls Nest. The winner of the that game will advance to the Region XIX Final Four, March 2nd and 3rd, at Brookdale Community College.
