BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton Men's basketball team displayed a well-balanced attack defeating the Skylanders of Sussex County 125-71, Thursday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
The Spartans shot 55% (54/97) from the floor, 67% (4/6) from behind the foul line and 42% (13/31) from behind the three-point line.
All ten Spartans found their way onto the scoring column.
Jay Davis (Northwest, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) led the Spartan's offense with 32 points,
Nasir Scott (Elkins Park, PA/Boy's Latin of Philidelphia) added 16
points,
Arnel Lewis (Easton, PA/Easton) had 15 points and
Michael Jackson (West Lawn, PA /Wilson West Lawn ) chipped in 14 points.
Tyrese Stewart (Allentown, PA/William Allen) finished with a double-double posting 19 points and 11 rebounds.
The Spartans dominated in the paint, out-rebounding the Skylanders 58-18.
"We were really firing from all cylinders tonight," said head coach
Brennan McCarthy, "we came out with intensity and played hard for all forty minutes."
The win moves Northampton to 17-6 overall and 16-4 in Region XIX.
Sussex falls to 1-25 overall and 1-22 in Region XIX.
The Spartans will be back in action Saturday afternoon as they travel to Blue Bell, PA to take on the Montgomery County Mustangs.
