Box Score BLUE BELL, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team earned the title of 2018-2019 Regular Season Champions Saturday afternoon, with a 87-73 victory over the Mustangs of Montgomery County.
Jay Davis (Northwest, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) led the offense with 31 points and Tony James (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) added 16 points. Elijah Barrett (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) finished with a double-double, 11 points and 15 rebounds. Arnel Lewis (Easton, PA/Easton) contributed 10 assists in the victory.
The Spartans shot 47% from the field (33/70), 60% from the foul line (9/15) and 43% (12/28) from behind the three-point arc.
"My team played hard today," remarked head coach Brennan McCarthy "we played with a lot of intensity and passion. We earned the title of regular season champs today."
Three players from Montgomery County had a strong offensive performance, Cameron Reid (25 points), Seth Compas (22 points) and Vincent Zull (21 points).
Northampton improves to 18-6 overall, 17-4 in Region XIX and 14-2 in EPAC.
Montgomery falls to 14-9 overall, 12-8 In Region XIX and 9-6 in EPAC.
The Spartans are back at it on Tuesday, when they travel to Newtown Pa, to face the Centurions of Bucks County College.
