BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Back on the court for the first time since December 14th, the 7th ranked Northampton men's basketball team earned a convincing 83-59 victory over Valley Forge Military College on Saturday afternoon at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
Tony James (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg ) scored 18 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 4 assists as twelve Spartans scored at least 1 point in the victory.
"Given the long lay-off, I was really happy with our execution on both ends of the floor," commented Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "I thought we were very efficient offensively in the first half and our defensive efficiency really improved in the second half. We definitely had a little rust, but overall I thought the guys played very well."
Reuben Soto (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) finished with 12 points, while
Michael Jackson (West Lawn, PA/Wilson West Lawn) scored 13 points, grabbed 5 boards and had 5 assists.
The win moves Northampton to 14-1 overall, 10-1 in Region XIX and 7-1 in the EPAC.
Valley Forge falls to 9-5 overall, 6-4 in the Region and 5-4 in conference play.
The Spartans are now off until Saturday January 18th when they host Cumberland County College at 12pm.
