Box Score BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team pulled away from a 2-point halftime lead, outscoring Cumberland County College 50 to 31 in the second half to earn an 84-63 victory on Monday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
Nazir Gossette (Philadelphia, PA/Math, Civics & Sciences Charter) scored a team-high 24 points and
Tony James (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg ) added 21 as the Spartans built a 28 point advantage in the second half.
"We were a little tentative offensively in the first half," remarked Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "but I thought our defensive intensity helped propel our offense in the second half.
Raylil Law-Winton (Pennsbury, PA/Pennsbury) had a strong game for us and
Nasir Scott (Philadelphia, PA/Boys Latin of Philadelphia) gave us some great energy off the bench."
The win moves the 11th ranked Spartans to 17-2 overall and 13-2 in Region XIX.
Cumberland falls to 12-8 overall and 10-7 in the Region.
The Spartans return to action on Tuesday when they make the short trip across the Valley to Lehigh Carbon Community College for a 7pm tip vs. the Cougars.
