Box Score NEWTOWN, NJ - Six Spartans scored in double figures as the 12th ranked Northampton men's basketball team ran away from Sussex County Community College, downing the Skylanders 113-61 on Thursday evening at the Kuntz Center.
Tony James (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg ) led the Spartans with 21 points, followed by
Michael Jackson (West Lawn, PA/Wilson West Lawn) with 16,
Marquise McClean (York, PA/William Penn ) 13,
D'Andre Davis (York, PA/York Catholic ) 12,
Nazir Gossette (Philadelphia, PA/Math, Civics & Sciences Charter) 12 and
Nasir Scott (Philadelphia, PA/Boys Latin of Philadelphia) 10.
The Spartans shot a blistering 56% from the floor (48/85), including 10 of 23 from distance.
"It was a nice way to end the regular season," commented Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "we are able to get minutes for a number of guys and everyone worked extremely hard. Now we wait until next Wednesday night to find out our seed for the upcoming Region XIX Tournament."
James led the Spartans on the boards with 15, while Gossette and McClean each hauled down 10 rebounds.
Brian McKenzie (Lancaster, PA/J.P. McCaskey) had a game-high 10 assists.
The Spartans finish the regular season with an overall record of 24-3, including 20-3 in Region XIX.
Sussex falls to 4-22 overall and 4-21 in the Region.
The Spartans, in all likelihood have secured a top-4 seed for the upcoming Region tournament, in which case they would have a bye until Tuesday February 25th, when they would host a second round playoff matchup.
