BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team will open the 2019-20 Region XIX playoffs on Tuesday February 25th when they host 8th seeded Passaic County Community College at the Arthur L. Scott Center. 

The #1 seeded Spartans (24-3) and Passaic (17-13) met earlier in the season, with Northampton picking up an 89-81 victory in Paramus, NJ on November 16th.  The Spartans overcame a 46-37 halftime deficit to outscore the Panthers 52-35 in the second half, in a contest that was marked by 64 personal fouls. Tony James (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg ) led five Spartans in double figures with 19 points, and added 15 rebounds, while Gabe Silvera led Passaic with 30 points, including a 13/16 effort from the charity stripe. The win improved Northampton to 2-6 all-time vs. Passaic. 

The 8th seeded Panthers advanced to the quarterfinals with a convincing 95-73 victory over 9th seeded Valley Forge Military College on Saturday afternoon at the Panther Den. 

The winner of Tuesday's quarterfinal matchup advances to the Region XIX Final Four February 29th / March 1st at Northampton.
