SEWELL, NJ - The Northampton women's volleyball team picked up their first victory of the 2021 season, downing Bergen Community College, 3-1, during a tri-match at RCSJ-Gloucester on Saturday afternoon.
The Spartans opened the tri-match with a 3-0 loss to RCSJ-Gloucester, falling 8-25, 5-25, 19-25 to the undefeated Roadrunners, who improved to 11-0.
Jordan Appleton (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond) had 8 kills and 6 digs,
Theresa Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond) recorded 10 assists and
Meghan Speshok (Easton, PA/Easton) had 14 digs to pace the Spartans.
The Spartans came out strong vs. Bergen in their second match of the afternoon, winning the first set 25-19, before falling 21-25, and then rebounding to take the 3rd set 25-20 and the 4th, and clinching, set 25-18.
Jordan Appleton (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond) had a team-high 22 kills and added 27 digs,
Genesis Martinez (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg) recorded 9 kills, 10 digs and 5 service aces and
Jennique Herrera (Plainfield Township, PA/Pen Argyl) chipped in with 7 kills and 14 digs.

Rachael Caywood who earned her first collegiate victory, "they have worked so hard and stay focused despite our challenges, they really deserve this victory."
Theresa Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond) had 27 assists and
Meghan Speshok (Easton, PA/Easton) registered 32 digs.
Northampton moves to 1-8 overall and 1-5 in Region 19 with the split.
The Spartans will look to continue their winning ways when they travel to Harcum College on October 13th for a 7pm matchup vs. the Bears.
