BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team, ranked 12th in this week's NJCAA Division III national poll, picked up a 78-57 non-conference victory over Eastern University JV on Tuesday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
Sophomores
Kymir Roper (Upper Darby, PA/Upper Darby,) and
Union Burns (Mt. Pocono, PA/Pocono Mt. West ) each scored 13 points,
Zykir Williams (Philadelphia, PA/Boys Latin Charter ) had 12 points and
Michael Marable (Harrisburg, PA/Susquehanna Twp.) added 11 points and 9 rebounds to pace the Spartans.
Northampton controlled the boards, 50 to 34, and forced Eastern into 26 turnovers which led to 35 points.
"I thought we were a little inconsistent tonight, but we were able to regain our focus and earn a good win over a quality opponent," commented Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "we were able to get a bunch of guys some minutes and stay healthy heading into Thanksgiving Break."
Amyr Fox (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East ) added 8 points and 7 assists, while
Khamari White (Philadelphia, PA/Kensington) filled the stat sheet with 5 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.
The Spartans, who improved to 6-2 overall, are now off until November 30th when they travel to Philadelphia to face the Lions of the Community College of Philadelphia.
