Briona McClain (Tobyhanna, PA/Pocono Mt. West ).
"We started out strong and struggled from the foul line down the stretch," commented Head Coach
Terrence Bomar, "CCP did an excellent job hanging in the game and forcing us into turnovers, we definitely have to work on our mistakes from this game.
Briona McClain (Tobyhanna, PA/Pocono Mt. West ), 24 points, and
Deovion Yates (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East), 8 points, helped us survive down the stretch. We have to get back to work tomorrow and prepare for Sussex on Thursday."
Alayna Day (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg) added 12 points and
Olivia George (Allentown, PA/Whitehall) had 10 for Northampton, which held Philadelphia to just 7 points in the 2nd quarter.
The win, the first over CCP since February 2018, moves Northampton to 6-2 overall, 4-0 in Region 19 and 3-0 in the EPAC.
Philadelphia falls to 2-7 overall, 2-1 in Region 19 and 1-1 in conference play.
The Spartans return to action on Thursday at the Spartan Center when they host the Skylanders of Sussex County Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5pm.
