BETHLEHEM, PA - The Northampton Baseball team extended their win streak to 4 games with a doubleheader sweep of Delaware Tech on Saturday at Spartan Field.
GAME ONE - Won 14-1
The Spartans plated 8 runs in the first inning, highlighted by a 3-run homerun from
Isaiah Lockette (Steelton, PA/Steelton-Highspire) and a 2-run shot from
Jordan King (York, PA/Central York).
Evan Zwolenik (Northampton, PA/Northampton) picked up the victory on the mound, allowing 1 run on 4 hits over 6 innings, striking out 6 and walking 1.
Francesco Greco (Norwalk, CT/Brien McMahon (CT)) pitched the 7th, striking out 2.
King finished 3 for 4 with 3 RBI, Lockette was 2 for 2 with 3 RBI and
Jordan Siket (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) added a homerun and 2 RBI to pace the Spartans.
GAME TWO - Won 8-7
Northampton once again jumped out to an early lead, taking a 7-1 advantage into the 4 inning, before Del Tech rallied with 3 runs in the 5th and 2 in the 6th.
Patrick Flynn (Easton, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond) shut the door on Delaware in the top of the 7th, earning his 1st save.
Colby Butczynski (Nanticoke, PA/Greater Nanticoke Area) earned the victory with 3 innings of work, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 3 hits while fanning 3.
Keegan Rude (Sayre, PA/Athens Area) and
Jordan Livingston (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) also saw time on the bump, combining for 3 innings of work, allowing 5 hits and 4 runs.
Offensively,
Collin Jensen (Garnet Valley, PA/Archmere Academy (DE)) paced the attack with a 2 for 4 effort with 4 RBI, while
Colin Gehringer (Exeter, PA/Exeter) went 1 for 2 with 2 RBI from the DH spot.
Joey Galantini (Allentown, PA/Salisbury) was 3 for 4 and
Jacob Yurkovitch (Pen Argyl, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond) was 2 for 3 as the Spartans pounded out 13 hits in the win.
The doubleheader sweep improved the Spartans to 4-3 overall, while Del Tech fell to 6-9.
Northampton returns to the field on Tuesday when they host Union County College at 3:30pm.
