BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton Baseball team extended their winning streak to 9 games with a doubleheader sweep of Delaware County Community College on Sunday afternoon at Spartan Park.
GAME ONE - Won 10-7
Northampton jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but found themselves in a tie ballgame at 6-6 entering the bottom of the 6th inning. The Spartans erupted for 4 runs, sparked by a 2-run triple from
Isaiah Lockette (Steelton, PA/Steelton-Highspire) and a solo homerun from
Sean Granahan (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson West Lawn), and then held the Phantoms to a single run in the top of the 7th to earn the 10-7 victory.
Lockette finished 3 for 4 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored, Granahan went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and
Marcus Nales (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) had a 2-run homerun to lead the Spartan offense.
Cade Horwath (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) earned the win in relief of starter
Francesco Greco (Norwalk, CT/Brien McMahon (CT)), going 3.0 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits, strking out 4. Greco worked 4.0 innings, allowing 6 runs (4 earned), on 5 hits with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks.
GAME TWO - Won 19-9
After putting up 6 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning, Northampton found themselves trailing DCCC 8-6 entering the bottom of the 4th inning. The Spartans put 7 runs on the board in the 4th, jump-started by a
Collin Jensen (Garnet Valley, PA/Archmere Academy (DE)) solo homerun to lead off the inning.
Adam Finkbiner (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) smashed a bases clearing double, scoring 3 runs and
Jordan King (York, PA/Central York) hit a 2-run triple to highlight the scoring and give Northampton a 13-8 lead.
The Spartans would add 6 more runs over the last two innings to take the 19-9 victory.
Jordan Livingston (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) picked up the win with 2.2 innings of work, allowing 1 run and striking out 4. Starter
Patrick Flynn (Easton, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond) went 3.1 innings, allowing 8 runs (2 earned) on 3 hits, walking 7 and fanning 5.
Jordan King (York, PA/Central York) led the offense with a 3 for 6 performance, with 4 RBI,
Collin Jensen (Garnet Valley, PA/Archmere Academy (DE)) was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and
Adam Finkbiner (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) finished 2 for 5 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored.
Northampton improves to 9-3 overall and 5-0 in Region 19, while Delaware County falls to 2-6 overall and 0-4 in Region 19.
The Spartans return to action on Tuesday when they host Montgomery County Community College at 3:30pm.
