GEORGETOWN, DE - The Northampton Baseball team picked up two victories on Saturday, downing Delaware Tech 4-3 and 7-1, behind complete game victories from starters
Evan Zwolenik (Northampton, PA/Northampton) and
Francesco Greco (Norwalk, CT/Brien McMahon (CT)).
GAME ONE - Won 4-3
The Spartans jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning behind RBI singles from
Jordan King (York, PA/Central York) and
Marcus Nales (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty).
Isaiah Lockette (Steelton, PA/Steelton-Highspire) added a 2-run homerun in the 5th, which is all the support starting pitcher
Evan Zwolenik (Northampton, PA/Northampton) needed, to earn the complete game victory.
Zwolenik went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits, while striking out 4, in picking up his 2nd victory of the season.
King finished 2 for 4 with 1 RBI, Lockette was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and Nales was 2 for 3 with a RBI to lead the Spartan offense, which finished with 9 hits.
GAME TWO - Won 7-1
Francesco Greco (Norwalk, CT/Brien McMahon (CT)) picked up the complete game victory in game two, throwing 7 innings of 5-hit ball, allowing 1 run, striking out 2 and walking 1.
Marcus Nales (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) paced the offense with a 3 for 4 performance, including 2 RBI,
Jordan King (York, PA/Central York) was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 runs scored,
Isaiah Lockette (Steelton, PA/Steelton-Highspire) had 2 RBI and
Jacob Yurkovitch (Pen Argyl, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond) finished 2 for 3 with a RBI.
Lockette had the big blow in a 3-run 2nd inning, lining a single to left field to score
Antonio Zabala (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) and
Jordan King (York, PA/Central York).
The sweep moves Northampton to 11-4 overall, while Del Tech falls to 10-16.
Sunday's doubleheader vs. Camden has been cancelled, so the Spartans will return to the field on Tuesday the 27th when they host NJCAA Division II member Mercer County Community College at 3:30pm.
