BETHLEHEM, Pa. -
Francesco Greco (Norwalk, CT/Brien McMahon (CT)) held Sussex County Community College to 1 run on 5 hits over 7 innings, to help the Northampton Baseball team to a 9-1 victory over the Skylanders on Monday afternoon.
Greco finished with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk in earning his 2nd victory of the season.
Cade Horwath (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) pitched the final two innings, allowing no runs on no hits and fanning one.
The Spartans got off to a quick start in the 1st inning, as
Jordan King (York, PA/Central York) and
Isaiah Lockette (Steelton, PA/Steelton-Highspire) hit back-to-back triples, with Lockette knocking in King and
Marcus Nales (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) singling to score Lockette, giving Northampton a 2-0 advantage.
Northampton added two more runs in the 4th when
Jordan Siket (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) singled to score Nales and
Jacob Yurkovitch (Pen Argyl, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond), giving the Spartans a 4-0 advantage.
After Sussex plated a run in the 5th, the Spartans added 5 in the bottom of the 7th to put the game away and earn their 16th victory of the season.
Jordan King (York, PA/Central York) finished 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored,
Colin Gehringer (Exeter, PA/Exeter) was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI and
Jordan Siket (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) was 2 for 3 with 4 RBI to lead the offense.
Northampton, now 16-8 overall, finishes off the regular season on Tuesday when they travel to La Plume, PA to face the Keystone College JV team at 3:00pm.
Sussex falls to 12-18 with the loss.
