BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton Softball team picked up two victories on Tuesday, downing Montgomery County Community College, 10-2 and 18-1 in their doubleheader at Spartan Field.
GAME ONE - Won 10-2
The Spartans scored all the runs they would need in the first inning, plating 4 runs, highlighted by a RBI double from
Hailey Druckenmiller (Orefield, PA/Parkland ).
Druckenmiller, who finished 1 for 3, picked up the win in the circle, tossing 5 innings of 2-hit ball, allowing 2 runs (1 earned) and striking out 8, improving to 5-6 on the season.
Destiny Koppenhaver (Easton, PA/Commonwealth Charter ) was 3 for 3 with a RBI,
Madison Hendrickson (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) was 2 for 3 and
Maria Pezzino (Nazareth, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) went 2 for 3 wtih 2 RBI for Northampton.
GAME TWO - Won 18-1
The Spartans jumped out to an early 13-1 lead after two innings and cruised to the run-rule shortened 18-1 victory in game two.
Alexa Fancera (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored,
Brielle Comiskey (Easton, PA/Wilson ) was 2 for 2 with 3 RBI and
Madison Hendrickson (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) had 3 RBI to go along with 2 hits.
Emily Michael (Easton/Easton ) improved to 3-5 overall, allowing only 1 run on 2 hits, striking out 3 and walking 1.
The doubleheader sweep improves the Spartans to 8-12 overall, while Montgomery falls to 0-8.
The Spartans are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Camden County College for a 3pm tilt with the Cougars.
