STANTON, DE -  The Northampton women's volleyball team took the floor for the first time since November 9, 2018 on Saturday afternoon, facing off vs. NJCAA Division II member Delaware Technical & Community College in a doubleheader.  The 7-time Region 19 champions, who did not compete in 2019 or 2020, enter the 2021 campaign under the direction of new head coach, and former standout player, Rachael Caywood.

The Spartans opened the 2021 campaign dropping a doubleheader to Delaware Tech, falling 3-0, (19-25, 8-25, 20-25), in the first match, and 3-1, (25-12, 21-25, 15-25, 14-25),
in the second match.

Theresa Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond) had 16 assists, Jordan Appleton (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond) registered 16 kills, Tiah Fontno (Easton, PA/Easton) had 6 kills, Shamiya Cabrera (Tobyhanna, PA/Pocono Mt. West) notched 5 assists and Meghan Speshok (Easton, PA/Easton) registered 64 digs and 6 service aces to lead the Spartans.

"We obviously have a number of things to work on," stated Caywood, "but overall I was really happy with how the team competed and thrilled to have Spartan Volleyball back on the court."

The Spartans, 0-2 overall, return to action on Monday September 20th when they host NJCAA Division II Harcum College at 7pm in the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center.
