HARRISBURG, Pa. - The 15th ranked Northampton women's volleyball team knocked off 3rd ranked, undefeated, Harrisburg Area Community College on Monday evening, topping the Hawks 25-23, 8-25, 25-20, 25-23.
Ayana Bomani (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) recorded 12 kills, 18 digs, 6 solo blocks and 7 block assists and
Jordan Appleton (Langhorne, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) notched 9 kills, 2 service aces, 9 digs and 7 block assists to pace the Spartans.
"I'm so happy for the team," remarked Head Coach
Rachael Caywood, "they have worked so hard all year after losing that opening match to HACC back on September 8th."
The Spartans have reeled off 16 consecutive victories since that defeat, sweeping 14 of the 16 matches they have played since that opening day 3-1 setback to the Hawks.
Theresa Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) had 17 digs and 2 assists and
Alexandra Bosco (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley) finished with 24 assists, 3 service aces, 3 solo blocks and 2 block assists.
The Spartans improve to 16-1 overall and 9-1 in Region 19, while Harrisburg falls to 16-1 overall and 8-1 in Region play.
Both teams now will await their playoff pairings, with the postseason set to get underway on Saturday October 22nd.
