Spartans Down Monroe-Bronx at National Tournament

ROCHESTER, MN - The 9th seeded Northampton women's volleyball team went 1-1 on day one of the NJCAA national tournament, falling 3-2 to #8 Fulton Montgomery and then rebounding to down #12 Monroe-Bronx 3-0 on Thursday at the Rochester Sports Arena.

MATCH ONE - vs. #8 FULTON-MONTGOMERY (Lost 3-2)
In the opening match of the 2022 NJCAA national tournament, the Spartans and Raiders brought the crowd to the edge of their seat with a thrilling 5-set match, with FMCC downing Northampton 25-14, 19-25, 19-25, 25-20, 15-9. 

Alexandra Bosco (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley) had 36 assists, Theresa Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) recorded 15 digs, while Jordan Appleton (Langhorne, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) registered 16 kills and 12 digs, and Ayana Bomani (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) added 12 kills and 13 digs. 

MATCH TWO - VS. #12 MONROE-BRONX (Won 3-0)
In their second match of the day, the Spartans swept the Express of Monroe-Bronx, 25-19, 25-14, 25-19 to earn a spot in the national 9th place game on Friday. 

Jordan Appleton (Langhorne, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) led the Spartans with 10 kills, while Alexandra Bosco (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley) recorded 24 assists and 10 digs. 

The Spartans, now 19-2 overall, will face #7 Sandhills Community College in the 9th place game on Friday at 1pm EST. 

Sandills advanced with a thrilling 5-set victory over #6 Harrisburg Area Community College.
