CHESTER, Pa. - The 7th ranked Northampton men's basketball team rebounded from their loss to Passaic on Thursday evening with a resounding 92-53 victory over Delaware County Community College on Saturday afternoon, picking up their 10th win of the season.
The Spartans jumped out of the gates early, using a suffocating defense and transition offense to take a commanding 49-20 lead to the locker room at intermission.
All 15 Spartans in uniform saw action in the contest, with ten players scoring at least 4 points, led by
CJ Miles (Bangor, PA/Bangor) with 19. Miles finished 7 for 10 from the field, including a 3 for 5 performance from behind the arc, and added 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 7 assists.
Mike Marable (Harrisburg, PA/Susquehanna) added 14 points,
Alejandro Beriquete (Lancaster, PA/Milton Hershey) had 13 points and 10 rebounds and
Keein Ward (Harrisburg, PA/Susquehanna) finished with 12 points to lead the offensive attack.
The Spartans shot 56% from the field for the game and assisted on 24 of their 40 field goals.
"As a I have said many times, road wins are hard to come by in this Region, so I'm happy to leave here with a Region and Conference victory," remarked Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "we are in a very challenging stretch right now with 3 road games in 4 days, so this is a really good test for us ... now we need to recover and be able to hit the floor against a very good Ocean team on Sunday in Toms River."
The win moves Northampton to 10-2 overall, 6-1 in Region 19 and 6-0 in the EPAC.
Delaware falls to 1-8 overall, 1-4 in the Region and 1-3 in conference play.
The Spartans will head to Toms River on Sunday to face Ocean County College at 2pm.
