Box Score LINCROFT, NJ - The Northampton women's basketball team overcame a 17-point 3rd quarter deficit and rallied to stun Brookdale Community College, 67-64, on Saturday afternoon at Robert J. Collins Arena.
Deovion Yates (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East) converted a 3-point play with 5 seconds to play to break a 64-64 deadlock and Brookdale's last second attempt bounced off the rim as the Spartans grabbed the improbable victory.
Trailing by 11 at halftime, the Spartans found themselves behind 51-34 in the 3rd quarter, before methodically beginning their comeback. Northampton cut the margin to just 7, at 52-45, entering the 4th quarter and then proceeded to outscore the Jersey Blues 22-12 in the final stanza.

Briona McClain (Tobyhanna, PA/Pocono Mt. West ), who tied the score at 64 with just under a minute to play, finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while
Bryanna Rivera (Reading, PA/Greenfield (MA)) had 14,
Alayna Day (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg) 12 and Yates 11.
Day added 6 assists, while Carissa Reyes led Brookdale with 27 points.
The win moves Northampton to 14-6 overall and 7-2 in Region 19.
Brookdale falls to 15-9 overall and 11-4 in Region play.
The Spartans now await their seed for the upcoming Region 19 playoffs. The Region 19 Basketball Committee will announce the bracket on Wednesday February 16th, with games starting on Saturday February 19th at the higher seeds.
