BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 12th ranked Northampton men's basketball team won their 11th consecutive game on Thursday evening, downing NJCAA Division II Mercer County Community College, 68-39, at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
The Spartans shot 53% from the field, while holding the Vikings to just 32% (17/53) for the game. "I thought our defense played well tonight," remarked Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "Mercer is a tough team to prep for, they are well-coached and run some very good sets, but I thought we did a good job communicating and limiting their backdoor attempts."
Zykir Williams (Philadelphia, PA/Boys Latin Charter ) led the Spartans with 14 points and
Michael Marable (Harrisburg, PA/Susquehanna Twp.) added 11, as ten Spartans scored at least 1 point.Â
Marable added 5 assists, while
Kymir Roper (Upper Darby, PA/Upper Darby,) led Northampton on the boards with 7 rebounds.Â
The win moves Northampton to 16-2 overall, while Mercer falls to 2-18.Â
The Spartans are back on the hardwood Friday when they host Camden County College at 7pm in a make-up game from January.Â
