BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton Baseball team picked up their 7th consecutive win on Wednesday, downing NJCAA Division II UConn Avery Point 11-1 at Spartan Field.
Caleb Walker (Deposit, NY/Deposit Central (NY)) had a homerun, 2 RBI and 3 runs scored and
Ryan Santangelo (Oxford, PA/Oxford Area) added 2 RBI as the Spartans put 11 runs across the plate despite getting just 6 hits.
Ryan Gordon (New Cumberland, PA/Red Land),
Ashton Johnson (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth),
Cole McGourty (Asbury, NJ/Voorhees (NJ)) and
Patrick Flynn (Easton, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) combined to allow just one run on 3 hits, striking out 4 and walking 3.
The Spartans opened the scoring with a big 3rd inning, plating 5 runs with a
Michael Wambold (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) run-scoring double leading the charge.
Northampton, which received votes in the latest NJCAA DIII poll, improved to 9-2 overall.
The Spartans are scheduled to face #6 Herkimer College on Saturday in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for noon.
