BROOKLYN, NY - The Northampton Baseball team moved to 12-3 overall with a doubleheader sweep of Kingsborough Community College on Saturday, improving to 10-1 in their last 11 contests.
Game One - Won 10-7
The Spartans scored 6 runs in the 1st inning, led by a 3-run homerun from
Isaiah Lockette (Steelton, PA/Steelton-Highspire), and held on for a 10-7 victory in game one vs. Kingsborough Community College.
Chase Herb (Hegins, PA/Tri-Valley) had 2 RBI and
Michael Wambold (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI as the Spartans outhit Kingsborough 11 to 6.
Tyler Sharayko (Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown Area) earned the win, working 3 innings allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 1 hit, striking out 4 and walking one.
Ethan Ferraro (Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown Area) and
Ashton Johnson (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) came on in relief, combining to allow 5 runs on 5 hits over 4 innings, with 6 strikeouts.
Game Two - Won 15-2
The Spartans jumped out to an early 12-1 lead in game two and coasted to a 15-2 victory to earn the series sweep.
Isaiah Lockette (Steelton, PA/Steelton-Highspire) stayed hot, finishing 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored,
Ryan Santangelo (Oxford, PA/Oxford Area) was 2 for 2 with 3 RBI and
Jeffrey Sabater (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) went 4 for 4 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored to pace the Spartans.
Francesco Greco (Norwalk, CT/Brien McMahon (CT)) earned the win on the mound, going 3 innings, allowing 1 run (0 earned) on 2 hits, striking out 2 and walking 2.
Tylar Patrick (Barrie, ON - Canada/) and
Justin Black (Bethlehem, PA/Elizabethtown Area ) finished off the Waves, allowing just one run over the final 2 innings.
The sweep moves Northampton to 12-3 overall.
The Spartans return to action on Thursday when they travel to #1 ranked RCSJ-Gloucester for a 3:30pm 9-inning game.
