MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Northampton Baseball team picked up two wins on day one of their spring trip to the Ripken Experience, downing Mid-Michigan 11-4 and Henry Ford 7-3 on Sunday evening.
Game One vs. MID MICHIGAN (Won 11-4)
The Spartans opened the 2022 campaign with an 11-4 victory over NJCAA Division II Mid Michigan College on Sunday at the Ripen Experience.
Ashton Johnson (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) earned the win on the mound, throwing a complete, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits while striking out 6 and walking none.
Caleb Walker (Deposit, NY/Deposit Central (NY)) was 3 for 4 at the plate with 2 RBI and
Isaiah Lockette (Steelton, PA/Steelton-Highspire) finished 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored to pace the Spartans.
Game Two vs. HENRY FORD COMMUNITY COLLEGE (Won 7-3)
Trailing 3 to 2 entering the top of the 7th inning, the Spartans scored 5 runs to pull out the dramtic 7-3 come from behind victory on Sunday night over Division II Henry Ford Community College.
Tylar Patrick (Barrie, ON - Canada/) earned the win in relief, striking out 2 of the three batters he faced.
Max Rivas (Toms River, NJ/Toms River - South (NJ)) was 1 for 3 with a RBI and 2 runs scored and
Josh Herman (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) went 2 for 3 with a walk and a RBI to lead Northampton.
The Spartans return to action on Monday with two games, as they will face Mid Michigan at noon and the College of DuPage at 3pm.
