LINCROFT, NJ - The Northampton men's soccer team dropped a Region 19 contest to Brookdale on Tuesday, falling 3-2 to the Jersey Blues.
Jairo Chira put the Jersey Blues on the board first, finding the back of the net with just 5 minutes remaining in the 1st half off an assist from Owen Chapman.
Chira struck again, 15 minutes into the 2nd stanza, off a cross from Brent Glantz, giving Brookdale a 2-0 advantage.Â
Ismaila Jallow (Gambia/West African International School)Â then took a pass from
Nic McCoy (Bangor, PA/Bangor) and powered past a Jersey Blue defender to put the Spartans on the board and cut the deficit to 2-1.
Ricardo Mozo-Mendoza then scored Brookdale's 3rd goal off an assist from Chira to put the Blues back up by 2, at 3-1.
The Spartans kept up the pressure and with 3 minutes remaining
Nic McCoy (Bangor, PA/Bangor) took a pass from
Hayden Burns (Bangor, PA/Bangor) and converted, cutting the deficit to 3-2.
Brookdale held on down the stretch to earn the victory, with Ajani Bruney making 2 saves.Â
Colston Jasionowski (Easton, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) had 7 saves for Northampton.
The loss drops Northampton to 2-4-1 overall and 1-2-1 in Region 19.
Brookdale improves to 6-5-0 overall and 5-2-0 in the Region.
The Spartans travel to Montgomery County Community College on Thursday to face the Mustangs at 3:30pm.Â
