BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's soccer team dropped a 4-3 decision to 10th ranked Ocean County College on Monday afternoon at Viking Stadium.
John Stier (Northampton, PA/Northampton) made 15 saves as the Spartans batted the nationally-ranked Vikings for 90 minutes in a Region 19 showdown.
After falling behind 1-0 just two minutes into the contest, the Spartans tied the game at 1, as
Ismaila Jallow (Gambia/West African International School) converted a
Nic McCoy (Bangor, PA/Bangor) pass, just 5 minutes prior to halftime.
The Spartans took a 2-1 lead 15 minutes into the second half as McCoy scored off an assist from
Gershon Bangura (Greencastle, PA/Greencastle-Antrim).
The Vikings then rallied with 3 goals in a 10-minute span to take a 4-2 lead, before
Hayden Burns (Bangor, PA/Bangor) cut the margin to 4-3, with 14 minutes remaining.
The loss drops Northampton to 3-6-1 overall and 2-4-1 in Region 19.
10th ranked Ocean improves to 8-1-2 overall and 7-1-2 in Region play.
The Spartans are back at home on Thursday October 12th when they host Lehigh Carbon Community College at 3:30pm.
