PARAMUS, NJ - The 9th ranked Northampton women's basketball team improved to 5-0 on the season with a convincing 78-37 victory over Bergen Community College on Tuesday evening at the Dawg Pound.
Xenia Gillis (Yeadon, PA/Penn Wood) led the way with 17 points, while
Denise Ferreira (Allentown, PA/William Allen) added 10 as the Spartans never trailed.
"We got a great effort from our bench tonight," commented Head Coach
Terrence Bomar, "their energy and focus were infectious."
Kamauri Gordon-Bey (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) had 6 points and 4 rebounds, while
Kimberly Eustache (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin) chipped in with 5 points.
The Spartans held Bergen to just 15 made field goals, on 28% shooting from the field.
The win moves Northampton to 2-0 in Region 19, while Bergen falls to 0-2 in the Region.
The undefeated Spartans return to action on Thursday when they travel to Scranton, PA to face Division II power Lackawanna College. Tip-off is set for 5pm.
