Spartans Hold Off Hornets for 7th Straight Win

BETHLEHEM, PA - The Northampton men's basketball team fought back from a 5 point deficit with 4:28 remaining in the game to defeat Broome Community College 69-62 on Thursday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center, to earn their 7th consecutive victory.

The Spartans struggled from the field, shooting just 33% for the game, but used a strong defensive effort that forced 19 turnovers and finished plus 7 on the boards.

"It wasn't pretty, but we got the job done," remarked Head Coach Brennan McCarthy, "I thought we showed our toughness down the stretch and were able to pull out the win."

Arkel Batts (Middletown, PA/Middletown) led the Spartans with 14 points, while Nile Mosby (Philadelphia, PA/Carver Engineering & Sciences) added 12 points and 9 rebounds and Elijah Hamilton (Atglen, PA/Octorara Jr/Sr) finished with a double-double with 11 points and 12 boards.

The win moves the 13th ranked Spartans to 7-2 overall, while Broome (Binghamton, NY) falls to 3-4 on the season.

The Spartans continue their homestand on Saturday when they host the Bulldogs of Thaddeus Stevens College in Region 19 matchup scheduled for 2pm.
