BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 4th ranked Northampton men's basketball team dropped an early season NJCAA Top-10 matchup on Saturday afternoon, falling 89-75 to 8th ranked Prince George's Community College at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
Jasir Tremble scored 34 points, including a 7 for 12 performance from distance, to lead the Owls to the upset victory. PGCC converted 13 of 31 3-point attempts, outscoring the Spartans by 36 points from behind the arc.Â
"Give Prince George's credit, they shot the ball extremely well from long-range," remarked Northampton Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "I liked our efforts on the boards (52-35 advantage), but we did not take care of the ball and we were inconsistent both offensively and defensively. PG is a very good team, we need to learn from this and turn our attention to Philadelphia."
Elijah Hamilton (Atglen, PA/Octorara Jr/Sr) led Northampton with 25 points and 20 rebounds, while
CJ Miles (Bangor, PA/Bangor) added 15 points.Â
Arkel Batts (Middletown, PA/Middletown) had 10 points and 3 steals and
Nile Mosby (Philadelphia, PA/Carver Engineering & Sciences)Â chipped in with 8 points and 4 rebounds.Â
The loss drops Northampton to 0-2 on the year, while Prince George's improves to 1-0.
The Spartans are now off until Thursday November 9th when they travel to the Community College of Philadelphia for a 7pm matchup.Â
