Box Score BLACKWOOD, NJ - Playing their first game in 20 days, the 8th ranked Northampton women's basketball team picked up a big Region 19 road win on Tuesday evening, downing Camden County College, 69-60, at Joseph Papiano Gymnasium.
The Spartans, who had not played since defeating RCSJ-Cumberland on November 21st, used a 25-14 3rd quarter advantage to overcome a 3-point halftime deficit and take control of the contest. "The layoff definitely showed in the 1st half," remarked Head Coach
Terrence Bomar, "I thought we started to get our rhythm back in the 3rd quarter and we were able to control the pace of the game. I'm really proud of these young ladies, it is definitely not easy to jump back in after that type of break, especially on the road against a team like Camden."
Kania Day (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) scored 20 points,
Shanaiya Ellis (Allentown, PA/William Allen) had 14 and
Kamauri Gordon-Bey (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) added 13 for Northampton.Â
The victory moves the Spartans to 8-1 overall and 4-0 in Region 19.
Camden falls to 4-4 overall and 4-2 in the Region.
The Spartans are now off until Saturday when they host the Mustangs of Montgomery County Community College in their final game of the semester. Tip-off is scheduled for noon at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
