Box Score NEWTON, NJ - The Northampton women's basketball team picked up their 3rd consecutive victory with a convincing 62-44 win over Sussex County Community College on Tuesday evening at the Skylander Center.

The Spartans held the Skylanders to only 15 field goals on the night and limited them to just 8 points in the second quarter, while building a 40-20 halftime lead.

"Our goal was to have our defense create offensive opportunities," remarked Head Coach Terrence Bomar, "and I thought we did a good for all four quarters coming up with big defensive stops and limiting Sussex to just one opportunity."

Kania Day (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) led the way for Northampton with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Zoe Cruz (Swiftwater, PA/Pocono Mt. East) added 11 points and Yonique Reynolds (Easton, PA/Wilson) finished with 7 points and 8 boards.

The win moves Northampton to 13-6 overall and 5-2 in Region 19.

Sussex falls to 7-13 overall and 2-12 in the Region.

The Spartans remain on the road Thursday, traveling to South Jersey to face the 13th ranked Roadrunners of RCSJ-Gloucester.  Game time is scheduled for 5pm at the Roadrunner Athletic Center.
