Spartans Eliminated from NJCAA National Tournament

ROCHESTER, MN - The Northampton women's basketball team saw their 2023 season come to an end on Thursday morning in Minnesota, as the Spartans fell to Prince George's Community College (MD), 50-38, in the NJCAA National Tournament.

In a defensive battle, the Spartans were within 4 entering the 4th quarter, but the Owls outscored the Spartans 20-12 in the final stanza to earn the 12-point victory.  PGCC converted 6 of 6 free throws down the stretech to seal the victory.

"It's sad to see the season come to and end, but I am proud of how far we have come in two seasons," remarked Head Coach Terrence Bomar, "I'm excited to see what next year brings.  This was a great learning experience for the team, this will only help us moving forward."

Kania Day (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) led Northampton with 10 points, while Xion Spence (Bushkill, PA/East Stroudsburg North) finished with 8 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
