BRANCHBURG, NJ - The 13th ranked Northampton baseball team won their 5th consecutive game, downing NJCAA Division II Raritan Valley, 22-11, on Wednesday afternoon at Lions Park.
The Spartan offense was firing on all cylinders, pounding out 20 hits, including 9 doubles, 2 triples, and a homerun.
Jake Hendershot (Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan (NJ)) was 3 for 7 with 4 RBI and 3 runs scored,
Jeffrey Sabater (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) finished 3 for 3 with 4 runs scored and 2 RBI and
Brody Hinkle (Wrightsville, PA/Eastern York) was 2 for 5, including a solo homerun to highlight a 6-run 4th inning for Northampton.
Jagger Martinez (Newport Beach, CA/Rockwall-Heath (TX)) picked up his first collegiate victory, working 3.1 innings, allowing 6 runs on 5 hits, with 4 walks and 1 strikeout.
Tyler Sharayko (Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown),
Ethan Ferraro (Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown),
Austin Beard (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) and
Ethan Woods (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) combined to pitch the final 4.2 innings.
The win moves Northampton to 18-9 overall, while Raritan Valley falls to 2-20.
The Spartans are back at home on Saturday, as they host Montgomery County Community College in a Region 19 doubleheader.
