PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) has released their Players of the Week, for the week ending April 16th.
Community College of Philadelphia freshman Ashley Steele (Philadelphia, PA/George Washington E&S), Northampton Community College freshman Aramie Arroyo (Minersville, PA/Minersville), and sophomore Jeffrey Sabater, have all earned this week's Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) Player of the Week honors as announced by the conference Wednesday afternoon.
Freshman long jumper/sprinter Ashley Steele finished 1st in the long jump with 4.75m and 2nd in the 100-meter dash with 13.98 at the Mid-Atlantic invitational at Howard Community College on Saturday, April 15th. Steele was able to dominate against NJCAA DIII long jumpers and sprinters. Steele is currently ranked 5th in the NJCAA DIII Women's Outdoor Track & Field. The Lions will travel to Chester, PA to compete at the Widener Invitational on Saturday, April 22nd at 10am.
Arroyo pitched in two games over the past week and help improve her team's season record to 11-5. Arroyo pitched 3 innings and allowed 4 hits, 3 runs, and 8 strikeouts against Bucks County Community College on Tuesday, April 11th, as the Spartans defeated the Centurions,13-4. Arroyo had another stellar pitching performance against Bergen Community College on Thursday, April 13th where she recorded 9 strikeouts in 5 innings. Arroyo retired all 15 Bulldog batters she faced and recorded a perfect game to improve her record to 5-2. The Spartans will travel to Edison, NJ to battle against Middlesex College on Thursday, April 20th at 3:30pm (DH).
Sabater led the Spartans offense with 6 hits, 1 double, 2 triples, and 2 RBI in wins over Camden County College and Raritan Valley Community College. On Tuesday, April 11th Sabater went 3-for-4 against the Cougars and 3-for-3 against RVCC on Wednesday, April 12th. Sabater finished 6-for-7 with a .857 batting average.
The #11 Spartans will host RCSJ-Cumberland on Friday, April 21st at 3:30pm.
