BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 3rd seeded Northampton Baseball team advanced to the Region 19 Final Four a with sweep of #6 RCSJ-Cumberland on Saturday afternoon at Spartan Park. After a 5-1 victory in game one, the Spartans dominated the Dukes in game two, winning 13-1.
Ryan Gordon (New Cumberland, PA/Red Land) earned the win in game two, throwing a complete game 3-hitter, allowing 1 run, striking out 1 and walking none.
Offensively the Spartans pounded out 11 hits, including homeruns from
Caleb Walker (Deposit, NY/Deposit Central (NY)) and
Jeffrey Sabater (Lansdale, PA/North Penn). Sabater finished 1 for 3 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored,
Josh Herman (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) was 3 for 3 with a double and 3 RBI and
Shane Fillman (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.
The Spartans, now 31-13 overall, advance to their 10th Region 19 Final Four in program history.
Northampton will open the double elimination tournament on Friday May 19th vs. 2nd seeded Middlesex College at RCSJ-Cumberland (Vineland, NJ).
