BLUE BELL, Pa. - The defending Region 19 champion Northampton Women's Volleyball team opened the 2023 season with a 3-1 (25-21, 25-19, 18-25, 25-18) victory over Montgomery County Community College on Tuesday evening at the Health Sciences Center. 

Reigning Region 19 Player of the Year Ayana Bomani (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) recorded 11 kills, 10 blocks, 10 digs and 2 service aces to lead the Spartan attack. Safiya Goodridge (Stroudsburg, PA/Pocono Mt. West) added 9 kills, while Leana Angelone (Coopersburg, PA/Faith Christian Academy) notched 35 assists and 16 digs.

Mackenzie Davis (Warsaw, VA/Rappahannock (VA)) added 35 digs and Kailen Felty (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove) had 7 kills for Northampton. 

The win moves Northampton to 1-0 overall, while Montgomery falls to 0-3. 

The Spartans are back on the road Thursday, as they travel to Harrisburg to face the 3-1 Hawks at the JW Evans Center at 6pm.
