BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The nationally-ranked Northampton men's basketball team used a bruising inside game to dominate Luzerne County Community College on Thursday evening, downing the Trailblazers 86-50 at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
The Spartans scored 46 points in the paint and out-rebounded the Trailblazers 57 to 32 in picking up the conference victory. "I thought we did a good job exploiting some mismatches in the paint," commented Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "we had a bunch of guys get minutes tonight and contribute, so overall a good solid victory."
Nile Mosby (Philadelphia, PA/Carver Engineering & Sciences) led Northampton with 18 points, followed by
Naeem Purnell (Darby, PA/Penn Wood) with 14.
Elijah Hamilton (Atglen, PA/Octorara Jr/Sr) topped the rebounders with 11, while
CJ Miles (Bangor, PA/Bangor) hauled down 8 boards and handed out 8 assists, to go along with his 7 points.
Northampton improves to 14-5 overall and 9-1 in the EPAC, while Luzerne falls to 3-15 overall and 2-9 in conference play.
The Spartans hit the road on Saturday as they travel to Harrisburg to face the Hawks at 12pm.
