Men's Soccer Falls in Final Minute to Middlesex College

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's soccer dropped a Region 19 contest on Thursday afternoon, falling to Middlesex College 3-2 in the final minute of the game, at the Spartan Soccer Complex.

Elijah Ejiofor (Gonesse, France/Pocono Mt. West) put the Spartans ahead early, netting his team high 18th goal of the year, for a 1-0 lead just 7 minutes into the match. Middlesex answered with an unassisted goal from Ronaldo Valencia, knotting the score at 1-1 at the 28 minute mark. Both teams went to the half deadlocked at 1-1 with the Spartans controlling the tempo and holding a 6-3 edge in shots on goal.

Wisdom Ntona (Johannesburg, South Africa/Queens) took a pass from Elijah Ejiofor (Gonesse, France/Pocono Mt. West) at the 56 minute mark of the second half to give the Spartans a, 2-1, lead. Middlesex answered with two late second half goals that proved to be the difference. Andres Rojas tied the game for the Colts at, 2-2, scoring unassisted at 77 minutes. Ahmed Oshash nailed the game winner for the Colts, converting a penalty kick with just over a minute to play for the game winner.

The loss drops Northampton 6-5-2 overall and 5-4-2 in Region 19. 

Middlesex improves to 5-2-2 overall and 5-2-2 in Region 19.

Northampton is now off for 9 days before they head to Sewell, NJ to face RCSJ-Gloucester on Saturday October 19th at 1pm.
