SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa. - The Northampton women's volleyball team picked up their 5th consecutive victory with a 3-1 (19-25, 25-14, 25-12, 25-18) win over Lehigh Carbon Community College at the Cougar Den on Monday evening in their regular season finale.
Despite a raucous crowd that was amped up to see the Cougars try to take down the Spartans for the second time this season, Northampton rallied after dropping the first set to dominate the Cougars and earn the 3-1 victory.
Kailen Felty (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove) had 16 kills, 18 digs and 13 blocks and
Lexi Womack (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) added 13 kills and 22 digs.
"We knew how important this one was from a seeding perspective," relayed Head Coach
Rachael Aquila, "after falling to them earlier in the season (3-2 on 9/21), we knew had to get today in order to secure a top-4 seed for the tournament."
Aramie Arroyo (Minersville, PA/Minersville) chipped in with 9 kills and 5 blocks,
Mackenzie Davis (Warsaw, VA/Rappahannock (VA)) had 22 digs and
Leana Angelone (Coopersburg, PA/Faith Christian Academy) notched 38 assists, 21 digs and 7 blocks.
The win moves Northampton to 16-6 overall, 6-3 in Region 19 and 8-4 in the EPAC.
Lehigh Carbon falls to 19-4 overall, 10-3 in the Region and 9-3 in conference play. The Cougars fall to 2-18 all-time vs. Northampton.
The Spartans finish the regular season with a 7-4 mark vs. DIII opponents, 4-2 vs. DII opponents and a 5-0 mark vs. non-NJCAA opponents.
Seeding for the Region 19 Tournament takes place on September 24th.
