BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton women's volleyball split their home tri-match on Saturday vs Division II opponents Delaware Tech and Lackawanna College, downing Del Tech 3-1, before falling to the Falcons 3-1.
Match One vs. DELAWARE TECH - Won 3-1 (22-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-14)
The Spartans picked up their 6th straight victory with a 3-1 victory over Delaware Tech in their first match on Saturday.
After dropping set one 25-22, Northampton rallied for 3 straight wins to earn the victory.
Kailen Felty (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove) recorded 14 kills, 7 digs, 6 aces and 6 blocks, while
Lexi Womack (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) added 10 kills and 24 digs.
Mackenzie Davis (Warsaw, VA/Rappahannock (VA)) had 23 digs and
Leana Angelone (Coopersburg, PA/Faith Christian Academy) registered 38 assists and 10 digs.
Match Two vs. LACKAWANNA - Lost 3-1 (16-25, 22-25, 25-22, 12-25)
The Spartans never got on track vs. their neighbors from the North, managing to only salvage the 3rd set, as they saw their 6-match winning streak snapped.
Alyssa Eilenberger (Saylorsburg, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond) finished with 11 kills and 5 blocks,
Kailen Felty (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove) had 9 kills and 9 blocks and
Leana Angelone (Coopersburg, PA/Faith Christian Academy) recorded 27 assists for the Spartans.
Mackenzie Davis (Warsaw, VA/Rappahannock (VA)) registered 27 digs, becoming the all-time career leader in that category at Northampton, while
Kailen Felty (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove) also put her name in the record book, becoming the all-time career leader in blocks.
Northampton is now 11-5 overall, 4-2 in Region 19 Division III and 4-4 in the EPAC.
The win moves Lackawanna to 13-4 overall and 7-1 in conference play.
The Spartans are back in action on Thursday October 10th in Branchburg, NJ as they take on Raritan Valley Community College at 6pm.
