BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 14th ranked Northampton men's basketball team used a 48-33 advantage in the second half to down the Ocean County College Vikings on Saturday afternoon at the Arthur L. Scott Center, by a final score of 81-62.
In a match-up of Region 19 foes, the Spartans ran away from the Vikings down the stretch to remain perfect, while knocking Ocean from the ranks of the unbeaten.
Nasir Ruhani (Brooklyn, NY/Eagle Academy (NY)) scored 15 points and was joined in double figures by
Jaden Tillet (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) with 13,
Abdul Jackson (Pottstown, PA/Pottstown) 12,
Josh Washington (Bethlehem, PA/Executive Charter) with 11 and
Taemas Jones (Stroudsburg, PA/Pocono Mountain East) 10.
"All Region wins are good wins," commented Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "we got a little down on ourselves in the first half, but once we started to trust in each other once again, things opened up and we were able to take advantage of some mismatches and get the win."
The Spartans improve to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in Region 19.
Ocean falls to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the Region.
The Spartans are back in action on Tuesday November 19th when they travel to RCSJ-Cumberland to face the Dukes at 7pm.
