VINELAND, NJ - The 13th ranked Northampton men's basketball team improved to 6-0 on the season with a 90-60 victory over RCSJ-Cumberland on Tuesday evening at the Dr. Charles Cunningham Center.
Jaden Tillet (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) led four Spartans in double figures with 19 points, followed by
Nasir Ruhani (Brooklyn, NY/Eagle Academy (NY)) 15, and
Nate Rivera (Bethlehem, PA/LIberty) and
Ameer Herran (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) each with 11.
The Spartans jumped on the Dukes early, taking a commanding 40-17 lead into the locker room at halftime, and then cruised to the 30-point victory.
Northampton converted 35 field goals to just 17 for the Dukes, who did manage to connect on 10 3-pointers.
"I liked our energy early," remarked veteran mentor
Brennan McCarthy, "I thought we lost a little of our defensive intensity in the second half, but overall, I'm happy to get a road victory."
The Spartans are now 6-0 overall and 3-0 in Region 19.
RCSJ-Cumberland falls to 0-4 overall and 0-4 in the Region.'
The Spartans are now off until Saturday November 23rd when they travel to Nanticoke, PA to face Luzerne County Community College at 1pm.
