Late Rally Leads Northampton Past Bergen, 46-43

PARAMUS, NJ - The Northampton women's basketball team rallied from a 2-point deficit,with under 50 seconds to play to earn a 46-43 over Bergen Community College on Saturday afternoon, and remain unbeaten on the season. 

Trailing 43-41 with 49 seconds remaining in the contest, the Spartans outscored the Bulldogs 5-0 down the stretch to earn the victory. 

Layla Sweatte (Allentown, PA/William Allen) scored 18 points and Heaven Dubois (Lancaster, PA/JP McCaskey) recorded another double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds, as the Spartans overcame a disastrous second half. 

Northampton, which led 29-13 at the half, was outscored 30-17 in the 3rd and 4th quarters, converting just 6 of 16 free throws on the day. 

"This was not one of our better efforts," stated Head Coach Carly Gallagher, "we let our emotions get the best of us today and it almost cost us.  I think this short break is coming at the perfect time so we can take a few days to rest our legs and our minds."

Raquel Costache (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg North) added 4 points and 6 rebounds.

The win moves Northampton to 7-0 overall and 5-0 in Region 19. 

Bergen falls to 0-5 overall and 0-4 in the Region.

The Spartans are now off until Tuesday December 3rd when they are set to host Camden County College at 5pm.
